How to use an electronic thermometer
An electronic thermometer is a medical device that displays body temperature in digital form by utilizing the relationship between certain physical parameters of materials and ambient temperature. The specific operating procedure is as follows:
1. Disinfect the probe tip of the thermometer locally with alcohol, then press the power button. The electronic thermometer will emit a beep sound lasting approximately two seconds, indicating that it has been activated.
2. The LCD display showing "188.8" indicates normal function. After about 2–3 seconds, the screen will display the previously recorded temperature—the value read at the time of the last shutdown.
3. After another 2–3 seconds, when "(L0)" appears on the display along with a flashing "°C (°F)", the electronic thermometer is ready for temperature measurement.
4. Place the probe at the desired measurement site, firmly pressing it against the skin to be measured, ensuring the probe remains fully covered and not exposed to air.
5. When the reading stops rising within 16 seconds, the measurement is complete, and the Celsius symbol will stop flashing.
6. Read the value shown on the display. Human body temperature typically remains around 37°C.
