Can steam eye masks remove under-eye bags?
Generally speaking, steam eye masks can help improve under-eye bags. When used appropriately, they are beneficial for eye health, but they cannot eliminate under-eye bags.
Under-eye bags refer to the drooping and swelling of the lower eyelid skin, giving it a pouch-like appearance. They can be categorized into two main types: primary and secondary. Primary under-eye bags often have a hereditary component and are commonly seen in younger individuals, while secondary bags typically occur in middle-aged and older adults. Although steam eye masks may help alleviate the appearance of under-eye bags, they cannot remove them completely. Steam eye masks work through a chemical reaction between water and iron powder inside the mask, creating a heat source that produces gentle, moist steam. This helps promote blood circulation around the eyes, relieve eye fatigue, improve sleep quality, protect vision, and reduce the appearance of fine eye wrinkles. However, steam eye masks do not offer therapeutic treatment and cannot eliminate under-eye bags.
It should be noted that under-eye bags usually do not require special treatment. If they affect one's appearance, medical treatments such as medications or surgical procedures at a hospital can be considered to remove them.
