Introduction
Whether hospitalization is needed for acute gastritis depends on the individual situation. Most cases of acute gastritis are caused by improper diet. If symptoms are mild, medication under medical guidance is usually sufficient, and hospitalization is not necessary. However, in elderly patients, who may have multiple underlying conditions and experience severe vomiting leading to inability to eat, hospitalization may be required for intravenous fluid therapy to relieve symptoms.

Whether hospitalization is needed for acute gastritis can be determined based on individual circumstances.

Acute gastritis commonly presents symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and fever, mostly caused by improper diet. If symptoms are mild, following a doctor's instructions for medication treatment is usually sufficient, with gradual recovery typically occurring within 3 to 4 days. In such cases, hospitalization is generally not required. However, elderly patients may have multiple underlying medical conditions, and if they experience severe vomiting and are unable to eat, hospitalization may be necessary. Intravenous fluid therapy might then be needed to alleviate symptoms.

When suffering from acute gastritis, it is important not to take medications blindly and to avoid spicy or irritating foods, which could worsen the condition.
