Introduction
After pregnancy, women experience increased secretion of estrogen in the body. If nipple hygiene is neglected, these substances can irritate the skin around the nipples, causing itching. Women should pay attention to breast hygiene. Immunity tends to decrease during pregnancy, and wearing ill-fitting undergarments may trigger skin allergic reactions. Women should develop good daily habits.

Pregnancy generally refers to gestation. Itchy nipples during pregnancy may be a normal phenomenon, or could be caused by conditions such as allergies or eczema, requiring management based on the specific circumstances.

1. Normal phenomenon

After pregnancy, increased secretion of estrogen in women leads to excessive sebum and milk-like fluid around the nipples and areolas. If nipple hygiene is neglected, these substances can irritate the surrounding skin, causing itchiness. In such cases, maintaining good breast hygiene is sufficient, and there's generally no need for excessive concern.

2. Allergy

During pregnancy, a woman's immune system may weaken. Wearing ill-fitting undergarments can irritate the skin around the nipples, triggering allergic skin reactions and resulting in itchy nipples. Women should develop healthy habits to boost immunity and, if necessary, use antihistamine medications to relieve discomfort.

3. Eczema

Sweat, oily secretions, and materials from clothing can irritate the nipples, leading to nonspecific inflammation that manifests as eczema-like changes, causing nipple itching and minor rashes. Women should maintain good personal hygiene, bathe regularly, change clothes frequently, and, when needed, apply topical treatments such as mometasone furoate cream or fluocinonide acetate cream to alleviate symptoms.

In addition, dry skin or sweat irritation may also contribute to nipple itchiness.
