Introduction
Palmar erythema does not necessarily indicate liver disease, but it is commonly caused by liver conditions. It is important to seek timely medical evaluation and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause. Long-term excessive alcohol consumption can damage liver cells. In addition, dietary adjustments are necessary during treatment—reduce intake of greasy and spicy foods, and maintain a light, bland diet.

Palmar erythema does not necessarily indicate liver disease, but it is commonly caused by liver conditions. It is important to seek timely medical evaluation and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause.

When palmar erythema is caused by liver disease, common symptoms include red spots or red patches on the palms, typically resulting from liver cirrhosis. These symptoms may gradually improve with treatment of the primary condition. If palmar erythema is observed, patients should visit a local hospital for diagnostic tests such as liver function tests and color ultrasound. After diagnosis, medications such as tenofovir disoproxil fumarate tablets or polyene phosphatidylcholine capsules should be taken orally under a doctor’s guidance to prevent worsening of the condition, as severe cases may lead to liver cancer. Liver cirrhosis is usually caused by long-term alcohol consumption or chronic stress combined with prolonged sleep deprivation. Long-term heavy drinking can damage liver cells; therefore, patients must avoid alcohol and smoking during treatment and maintain a regular sleep schedule.

In addition, liver problems often affect metabolism. It is best to undergo early medical screening. Dietary adjustments are also necessary during treatment—reduce intake of greasy and spicy foods and maintain a light, balanced diet.
