What causes knee pain?
Knee pain refers to discomfort in the knee joint, which is generally associated with factors such as weight gain, trauma, and knee arthritis.
1. Weight Gain
With increasing life and work stress, long-term irregular eating habits, overeating, and lack of physical activity can gradually lead to weight gain. This increases the load on the knee joints, accelerates the wear and tear of joint cartilage, and results in knee pain. Patients should adjust their lifestyle by maintaining regular meal times and engaging in moderate exercise to improve overall health.
2. Trauma
Injury to the knee joint commonly involves damage to the meniscus or articular cartilage, leading to knee pain.
3. Knee Arthritis
In older adults, degenerative changes in joint cartilage are common, characterized by cartilage wear within the joint. This can cause knee pain, often accompanied by limited mobility and limping, a condition known as osteoarthritis of the knee. Joint pain may also occur in conditions such as septic arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis of the knee.
In addition, knee pain can also be caused by osteoporosis, tumors, and other conditions. Persistent knee pain requires timely medical evaluation and targeted treatment based on the underlying cause.
