What does it feel like when the eyes don't focus?
Blurry vision is generally associated with symptoms such as strabismus, double vision, and eye fatigue.
1. Strabismus
When the eyes fail to focus properly, abnormal retinal imaging may lead to strabismus. This condition manifests as one eye deviating from parallel alignment while fixating on an object with the other eye. It may affect balance and walking ability.
2. Double Vision (Diplopia)
Blurry vision may also result in double vision caused by corneal or lens irregularities. When both eyes focus on the same object, the images fall on non-corresponding points of the two retinas, which the brain cannot fuse into a single image, leading to the perception of a single object as two.
3. Eye Fatigue
Because unfocused vision alters visual clarity, the eyes must exert extra effort to adjust and see objects clearly, making eye strain more likely. This can cause symptoms such as soreness, pain, light sensitivity, and a foreign body sensation in the eyes.
In addition, individuals may experience symptoms similar to astigmatism. It is recommended to seek medical advice and, depending on the severity of the condition, choose an appropriate treatment method under a doctor's guidance to help improve quality of life.
