Four Foods Kidney Cancer Patients Should Avoid
Patients with kidney cancer should avoid foods that are high in salt, high in potassium, high in fat, spicy foods, and moldy foods.
1. High-salt foods
Cancer cells in kidney cancer patients can severely affect the kidneys and may cause edema. Consuming high-salt foods increases sodium levels in the body, leading to sodium and water retention. Therefore, patients should avoid high-salt foods in daily life.
2. High-potassium foods
Foods such as bananas, mangoes, and durian are high in potassium. Regular consumption of these foods can severely impair kidney function in kidney cancer patients, increasing potassium levels in the body and potentially causing hyperkalemia. Thus, kidney cancer patients should not eat high-potassium foods.
3. High-fat foods
In patients with kidney cancer, internal organs cannot function normally. Eating excessive fat increases body fat levels and places additional strain on organs such as the kidneys, worsening the condition. Therefore, high-fat foods should be avoided.
4. Spicy foods
Kidney cancer patients should also avoid spicy foods such as chili peppers and pepper, which may exacerbate kidney damage.
5. Moldy foods
Moldy foods like peanuts and sunflower seeds may contain aflatoxins. Aflatoxin is a carcinogenic substance; consuming it may negatively affect the disease and potentially worsen the existing condition. Patients are advised to avoid eating moldy foods.
In daily life, patients should eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, exercise regularly, maintain a positive mental state, and enhance their body's resistance, all of which contribute to faster recovery from the disease.
