What is the normal body temperature for a 4-month-old baby?
The body temperature of a 4-month-old infant is generally considered normal between 36–37°C. However, due to environmental factors, slight variations in temperature may occur, though it typically does not exceed 37.5°C.
Since the thermoregulatory center in the brain of a 4-month-old infant has not yet fully matured, body temperature can fluctuate in response to ambient temperature. If the baby is overdressed or the room temperature is too high, body temperature may rise slightly but usually remains below 37.5°C. Conversely, in cold weather or if the baby is underdressed, body temperature may drop to around 36°C. As long as breathing, heart rate, and skin color remain normal, there is generally no need for excessive concern.
If the baby's temperature exceeds 37.5°C and is accompanied by symptoms such as irritability, crying, or refusal to eat, prompt medical evaluation is recommended to identify the underlying cause and initiate appropriate treatment.
