Introduction
Respiratory alkalosis is a pathological condition caused by delayed correction of respiratory acidosis due to respiratory dysfunction or airway diseases, leading to decreased bicarbonate concentration in the blood, elevated pH levels, and subsequent physiological disturbances. Management of respiratory alkalosis includes nursing diagnosis, nursing interventions, and specific treatments tailored according to the individual patient's condition.

Generally, nursing diagnoses for respiratory alkalosis include impaired airway clearance, decreased serum sodium levels, and other discomfort symptoms. Nursing interventions involve airway management, prevention and treatment of the underlying condition, and monitoring of blood gas analysis results.

I. Nursing Diagnoses

1. Impaired Airway Clearance

Impaired airway clearance leads to labored breathing, altered consciousness, and neurological impairment.

2. Decreased Serum Sodium Levels

Reduced serum sodium concentration can result in cellular edema and disruption of acid-base balance in the blood.

3. Other Discomfort Symptoms

Symptoms such as pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

II. Nursing Interventions

1. Airway Management

Ensure airway patency, monitor vital signs, neurological status, and serum sodium levels, and administer treatments under medical guidance.

2. Prevention and Treatment of Underlying Diseases

Prevent and treat primary conditions, control respiratory rate and depth, adjust ventilator settings, and ensure effective respiratory therapy.

3. Monitoring of Blood Gas Analysis Results

Monitor arterial blood gas results, and provide oxygen therapy or alkalinizing agents as needed. Administer symptomatic treatment for pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Under medical supervision, medications such as smectite powder or berberine tablets may be used.
