What changes occur in the body before menstruation?
Before menstruation, the body may experience symptoms such as breast tenderness, a sensation of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and loss of appetite.
1. Breast Tenderness
Prior to the onset of menstruation, elevated levels of progesterone can promote breast tissue proliferation, leading to breast tenderness in women.
2. Sensation of Heaviness in the Lower Abdomen
Before menstruation begins, the pelvic area becomes congested with blood, and since menstrual flow has not yet been discharged, a feeling of pressure or fullness may be felt in the lower abdomen.
3. Loss of Appetite
Hormonal changes in the body can affect gastrointestinal digestion and absorption. When digestive and absorptive functions decline, individuals may experience a loss of appetite.
In addition to the above symptoms, headaches and fatigue may also occur. These are generally normal physiological phenomena and usually do not require treatment.
