Fever woke me up in the middle of the night due to heat
Fever refers to an elevated body temperature, and waking up at night due to feeling hot is a relatively common occurrence. Measures such as general management, physical cooling, and medication can be used to reduce body temperature.
1. General Management
During fever, the body loses water. Drinking sufficient fluids helps replenish hydration and promotes sweating, which aids in heat dissipation. Opening windows or using air conditioning to lower room temperature can also assist with cooling.
2. Physical Cooling
A towel soaked in lukewarm water can be gently wiped across the forehead, neck, wrists, and other areas. Alternatively, cold packs can be applied under the armpits, groin, or other areas to help dissipate heat.
3. Medication
Under medical guidance, antipyretic medications such as acetaminophen tablets or ibuprofen suspension may be taken to reduce fever.
In addition, if fever is accompanied by other symptoms such as difficulty breathing or confusion, prompt medical attention is necessary. Patients are advised to visit a reputable hospital for evaluation to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment, avoiding delays in care. During treatment, a light diet should be maintained, and moderate daily physical exercise should be continued to support recovery.
