How long does it take to notice symptoms of postpartum tuberculosis?
The incubation period for "Yuelao" (postpartum tuberculosis or postpartum weakness) varies; some individuals show symptoms within several months after childbirth, while others may not develop symptoms until several years later.
1. Within Several Months
After childbirth or miscarriage, if a woman resumes sexual activity before the uterus has fully recovered, the uterus may be exposed to external stimuli, impairing its recovery and weakening immunity. This can lead to symptoms of Yuelao appearing within months after delivery. Common symptoms include coughing, low-grade fever, wound infection, fatigue, irritability, abdominal pain, recurrent inflammation, and anemia. If these symptoms are not treated promptly, the condition may enter a latent phase.
2. Within Several Years
In the past, due to the lack of modern medical technology and knowledge, many women's health issues could not be effectively treated or prevented, leading to high rates of conditions such as menstrual disorders and uterine diseases. Yuelao develops slowly and progresses over a long course. Without regular medical checkups, it may take years before the disease is detected.
After childbirth, women should get adequate rest, avoid staying up late, keep their abdomen warm to prevent chilling, and maintain proper nutrition.
