How long does menopausal syndrome usually last?
Menopausal syndrome refers to perimenopausal syndrome. The duration of perimenopausal syndrome is not fixed—it may last 1–2 years, 3–5 years, or even longer.
Perimenopausal syndrome occurs around the time of menopause due to hormonal fluctuations in the body, leading to a series of symptoms. Common symptoms include menstrual irregularities, irritability, dizziness, palpitations, and others. Because each woman's physical constitution varies, the duration of perimenopausal syndrome differs among individuals. Women with better physical health may adapt more quickly to lower hormone levels, experiencing symptoms for only 1–2 years. In contrast, women with weaker constitutions may take longer to adjust, resulting in symptoms lasting 3–5 years or even longer.
If symptoms do not significantly affect daily work and life, specific treatment is generally unnecessary. However, if they clearly interfere with normal activities, it is recommended to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital.
