What is scrotal moisture?
Scrotal moisture is a common skin issue specific to males, often caused by non-disease factors but sometimes associated with underlying medical conditions such as chronic prostatitis or scrotal eczema. It is recommended to reduce exposure to harmful irritants, and if necessary, seek diagnosis and treatment at a hospital's urology or dermatology department.
1. Non-disease Factors
Prolonged exposure to hot environments, sitting for long periods, excessive scratching, or consuming spicy and irritating foods can lead to excessive sweating that fails to evaporate, resulting in elevated local temperature. Identifying and eliminating these triggers usually helps alleviate or resolve the symptoms.
2. Pathological Factors
1) Chronic Prostatitis
Chronic inflammation of the prostate due to infection or other causes may disrupt autonomic nerve function, leading to overactive sweat glands in the scrotal area, causing dampness and itching. If caused by pathogenic infection, antibiotics such as Levofloxacin Capsules, Norfloxacin Capsules, or Cefaclor Tablets should be taken according to medical advice.
2) Scrotal Eczema
A common form of eczema and an allergic skin condition localized to the scrotal skin. Main symptoms include papules, vesicles, blisters, skin redness, and oozing erosions after scratching. As directed by a physician, topical treatments such as Tacrolimus Ointment or Pimecrolimus Cream are recommended. Oral antihistamines like Loratadine Tablets or Levocetirizine Hydrochloride Capsules may be added when necessary.
In addition, it is important to determine whether the condition is related to other diseases such as varicocele, hydrocele, or jock itch (tinea cruris). If accompanied by other discomforts, prompt evaluation at a hospital’s urology, andrology, or dermatology department is advised. Once the cause is identified, follow medical guidance for targeted treatment.
