Can you have a medication abortion one month into pregnancy?
Generally, medication abortion is not recommended one month after pregnancy to prevent potential complications.
Typically, one month into pregnancy is still very early. During an ultrasound examination, the gestational sac may not yet be visible or may be too small to detect clearly. It may therefore be difficult to determine whether the pregnancy is intrauterine or ectopic. Because of this uncertainty, no abortion procedures should be performed until an intrauterine pregnancy is confirmed, to avoid risks such as severe hemorrhage from taking abortion medications blindly. It is advisable to wait until around 42 days after conception, undergo an ultrasound to confirm the size and location of the gestational sac, and then proceed with medication abortion under medical guidance.
After medication abortion, it is important to monitor for symptoms such as fever, abdominal pain, or vaginal bleeding lasting more than two weeks, and seek medical attention promptly if any of these occur.
