Introduction
Hyperthyroidism usually refers to hyperthyroid syndrome. In general, there are no absolute dietary restrictions for hyperthyroidism, but intake of kelp should be reduced as it may trigger or worsen the condition. Deep-sea fish, which are high in iodine—such as pomfret, salmon, and tuna—should also be consumed less frequently. Excessive consumption of chili peppers may easily lead to thyroid enlargement and is unfavorable for recovery.

Hyperthyroidism usually refers to hyperthyroid syndrome. Generally, there are no absolute dietary禁忌 for hyperthyroidism, but intake of kelp, deep-sea fish, chili peppers, and similar foods should be reduced.

1. Kelp

Kelp is a food high in iodine, and iodine is a key ingredient in the production of thyroid hormones. Excessive consumption of kelp may trigger or worsen the condition.

2. Deep-sea fish

Deep-sea fish also contain relatively high levels of iodine. Daily intake should be limited, including fish such as pomfret, salmon, and tuna.

3. Chili peppers

Chili peppers are highly stimulating. Consuming too many can easily lead to thyroid enlargement and hinder recovery.

In addition, foods such as scallions, ginger, garlic, and cabbage should also be consumed in reduced amounts. Patients are advised to seek timely treatment to prevent worsening of the condition.
