1. Observation
First, stand in front of a mirror and locate the position of the Adam's apple. A thyroid cyst is typically found about two centimeters below the Adam's apple. Swallow saliva and carefully observe the neck area to check whether both sides are symmetrical and whether there are any abnormal bulges or lumps.
2. Palpation
Face a mirror and lower your head and neck. Place your thumb beneath the windpipe on the right side of the Adam's apple, and use the other fingers to feel the left side of the thyroid gland.
