Steps of cervical conization procedure
In general, cervical conization refers to a surgical procedure in obstetrics and gynecology involving the removal of a portion of the cervix. This operation entails excising a cone-shaped section of cervical tissue from the outer to the inner part of the cervix. The specific procedural steps are as follows:
1. Administer anesthesia prior to surgery; once the patient's anesthesia is stable, position the patient appropriately for the procedure.
2. Perform routine disinfection and drape the surgical field; use iodine staining test for lesion localization.
3. Use a vaginal speculum or retractors to expose the vagina and cervix. Under guidance of iodine staining or colposcopy, perform a conical excision of the cervix at a 45-degree angle from the external cervical os into the cervical canal.
4. Use a monopolar electrode (or similar device) for electrocoagulation to control bleeding, and send the excised tissue specimen for pathological examination.
5. After removing the affected area, apply local packing to achieve hemostasis, then remove the vaginal speculum.
This procedure requires specialized expertise. To avoid potential harm to the body, it should be performed under the supervision of a qualified physician. Patients should refrain from sexual intercourse for two months after surgery to prevent bleeding.
