There is no clinical term known as "supine neck and shoulder massage"; generally, neck and shoulder massage is performed with the patient in a prone position. Proper preparatory steps are required for neck and shoulder massage techniques to relax the neck and shoulder areas. Massage should be performed under the guidance of a physician. The specific techniques are as follows:

  1. The patient lies in a prone position. After cleaning the hands, the practitioner forms a pincer-like grip using the thumb and the other four fingers.

  2. Place both hands on the mid-scapular depression area of the patient and perform kneading and pinching maneuvers.

  3. The practitioner supports one of the patient's arms with one hand held in abduction, while using the rolling technique (gun fa) with the other hand on the deltoid muscle of the shoulder, followed by pressing and揉ming techniques to relax the shoulder muscles.

  4. Use the thumbs to press along the spinous processes of the cervical vertebrae, from the first cervical vertebra down to the seventh cervical vertebra. Apply rhythmic pressure on the spinous processes to alleviate cervical strain and muscle fatigue.

Manual massage can help relieve muscle spasms in the neck and shoulder region, relax muscles, and reduce symptoms of pain and stiffness.
