Introduction
Tenderness upon light tapping in the liver area may be caused by hepatitis, cirrhosis, or ascites. Appropriate treatment should be selected based on the underlying cause. Besides these conditions, it could also result from fatty liver, liver abscess, or liver cancer. Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital and actively cooperate with doctors for treatment to avoid delays that might lead to adverse outcomes.

Tenderness upon light percussion in the liver area may be caused by conditions such as hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, or hepatic ascites. Appropriate treatment should be selected based on the underlying cause. Specific analyses are as follows:

  1. Hepatitis

Hepatitis is usually caused by infection with hepatitis viruses. As hepatitis leads to enlargement of liver cells, tenderness upon percussion in the liver area may occur. Medications such as entecavir dispersible tablets or entecavir maleate tablets can be used under medical guidance.

  2. Liver Cirrhosis

Due to hepatic tissue congestion and edema causing liver enlargement, the outer liver capsule may be stretched, leading to pain in the liver region. Treatment may include medications such as silybin capsules or ornithine aspartate granules, taken as directed by a physician.

  3. Hepatic Ascites

The presence of significant ascites indicates that liver cirrhosis has progressed to the decompensated stage. At this point, widespread damage and hardening of liver cells may lead to the aforementioned symptoms. Medications such as spironolactone tablets or furosemide tablets may be used with medical supervision.

In addition to the above causes, fatty liver, liver abscess, or liver cancer may also be responsible. Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation and actively cooperate with treatment to avoid delays that could lead to adverse outcomes.
