Introduction
Compression of the dural sac and nerve roots refers to pressure or compression on the dura mater and the nerve roots extending from the spinal cord, leading to impaired nerve function. This may cause symptoms such as pain, abnormal sensations, and motor dysfunction. In general, compression of the dural sac and nerve roots may be associated with conditions such as cervical radiculopathy, lumbar disc herniation, and scoliosis, and requires symptomatic treatment.

Compression of the dural sac and nerve roots refers to pressure or compression on the dura mater and the nerve roots extending from the spinal cord, leading to impaired nerve function. This may cause symptoms such as pain, sensory abnormalities, and motor dysfunction. In general, compression of the dural sac and nerve roots may be associated with conditions such as cervical radiculopathy, lumbar disc herniation, and scoliosis, requiring symptomatic treatment. Specific details are as follows:

1. Cervical Radiculopathy

Cervical radiculopathy occurs when degenerative changes in the cervical intervertebral discs and facet joints affect corresponding segments of the cervical nerve roots, resulting in root-level compression or irritation and producing related symptoms and signs. Main symptoms include back and shoulder pain, radiating pain, numbness, and weakness in the upper limbs and fingers, which may lead to the aforementioned condition. It is recommended that patients take medications such as diclofenac sodium enteric-coated tablets or celecoxib capsules as prescribed by a physician. Massage therapy may also be used to relieve discomfort.

2. Lumbar Disc Herniation

Lumbar disc herniation develops after varying degrees of degenerative changes in the lumbar intervertebral discs. Under external forces, the annulus fibrosus ruptures, allowing the nucleus pulposus to protrude posteriorly or into the spinal canal, thereby stimulating or compressing adjacent spinal nerve roots. This may result in lower back pain, numbness in one or both lower limbs, and other symptoms, potentially causing the aforementioned condition. Patients are advised to take medications such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules or diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules as directed by a doctor. Traction therapy may also help improve the condition.

3. Scoliosis

Scoliosis refers to lateral curvature of the spine in the coronal plane. On the convex side, nerve roots may experience traction-related symptoms, while on the concave side, they may suffer from compression-related symptoms, leading to complaints such as back pain and poor development, possibly resulting in the above-mentioned phenomena. It is recommended that patients use orthotic braces as prescribed. In severe cases, surgical correction may be necessary.

In addition, other possible causes include spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, multiple sclerosis, and spinal tumors. Patients should seek timely medical attention when experiencing discomfort to avoid delays in treatment. Additionally, maintaining a light diet and ensuring adequate rest are recommended in daily life.
