Laparoscopic Pneumoperitoneum Needle Insertion Video
Under normal circumstances, a Veress needle is primarily used in laparoscopic surgery to puncture the abdominal wall and introduce carbon dioxide into the abdominal cavity, creating a pneumoperitoneum that establishes the necessary surgical working space. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Position the patient supine, fully expose the abdomen, and perform routine disinfection and draping of the abdominal area.
2. Administer local anesthesia to reduce pain and discomfort for the patient.
3. After anesthesia has taken effect, make a small incision approximately 1.5 cm long just above the umbilicus and insert the Veress needle.
4. Connect the Veress needle to a carbon dioxide gas source and slowly insufflate carbon dioxide into the abdominal cavity through the needle, causing the abdomen to expand and create the surgical workspace.
5. Monitor intra-abdominal gas pressure and adjust as needed to ensure pressure remains within an appropriate range.
6. At the end of the procedure, slowly withdraw the Veress needle from the abdominal cavity to allow the gas to escape.
This procedure requires specialized expertise. It is recommended to undergo the procedure at a qualified medical institution under the guidance of a trained physician to minimize risks. After the procedure, follow the doctor's advice for regular follow-up visits, rehabilitation, and complete treatment.
