How is a breast mammography examination performed?
Breast mammography is a specialized X-ray examination performed on the breast, primarily used to detect whether there are any internal breast abnormalities. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Before the examination, remove all metal objects from your body, including necklaces and undergarments, and take off your clothes completely to fully expose the breasts.
2. Stand in front of the X-ray machine and, following the doctor's instructions, place your breast onto the examination platform of the mammography device.
3. Once properly positioned, a breast compression paddle will gently compress the breast tissue while images are taken from multiple angles.
4. After completion, a specialist physician will analyze the breast tissue and structures shown on the images.
Mammography is a commonly used diagnostic method. During the examination, due to breast compression, patients may experience mild discomfort or pain, though this typically lasts only briefly. If abnormal results are found, it is recommended to follow the doctor’s advice and actively pursue appropriate treatment.
