What not to eat during early pregnancy
In general, pregnancy refers to gestation. During early pregnancy, cold and raw foods, stimulating foods, greasy foods, high-salt foods, and blood-activating foods should be avoided. Medications such as metronidazole tablets, ribavirin tablets, tetracycline tablets, aspirin tablets, and isotretinoin soft capsules should also not be taken. Specific details are as follows:
1. Foods
1. Cold and raw foods
Frequent consumption of cold and raw foods during early pregnancy may lead to spleen and stomach weakness or uterine coldness, potentially causing loose stools, threatened miscarriage, or even actual miscarriage.
2. Stimulating foods
Stimulating foods may cause constipation and could even trigger conditions such as hemorrhoids or anal fissures. In severe cases, they may lead to miscarriage; therefore, these foods should be minimized during early pregnancy.
3. Greasy foods
Excessive intake of greasy foods can worsen morning sickness and may lead to indigestion, which is detrimental to the pregnant woman's health.
4. High-salt foods
High-salt foods may result in excessive sodium intake, increasing the risk of gestational hypertension. These should be avoided as much as possible.
5. Blood-activating foods
During early pregnancy, the placenta has not yet fully developed and embryo implantation is unstable. Therefore, foods that promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis should be strictly avoided, as they may easily cause miscarriage.
2. Medications
1. Metronidazole tablets
Metronidazole is an antibiotic that can cross the placental barrier and enter the fetal body, potentially affecting fetal development and leading to congenital malformations.
2. Ribavirin tablets
Ribavirin is an antiviral medication that may cause fetal heart problems, such as ventricular septal defect or patent ductus arteriosus.
3. Tetracycline tablets
Tetracycline is an antibiotic that may interfere with fetal tooth and bone development, leading to issues such as tooth discoloration (yellowing) and enamel hypoplasia.
4. Aspirin tablets
Aspirin is an anticoagulant with blood-activating effects. During early pregnancy, when embryo implantation is still unstable, its use may increase the risk of miscarriage.
5. Isotretinoin soft capsules
Isotretinoin belongs to the vitamin A class of medications. High doses or prolonged use may harm the fetus and cause congenital abnormalities.
During early pregnancy, it is important to get adequate rest, avoid overexertion and staying up late, maintain a balanced diet, and avoid smoking, alcohol, and spicy foods.
