Low protein levels usually refer to low albumin levels. In general, whether low albumin causes fever mainly depends on the severity of the albumin deficiency. If albumin is only mildly decreased, fever may not occur; however, if the albumin level is severely low, fever may develop. When albumin is low, attention should be paid to dietary management, including increasing protein intake, as well as ensuring adequate sleep, which helps support recovery.

Albumin is an important protein in the human body that helps maintain plasma osmotic pressure, transport nutrients, and regulate immune function. When albumin levels are low, normal bodily functions may be affected to some extent. If the reduction in albumin is mild, immune function may still be maintained at a sufficient level to prevent infections. In such cases, patients may not experience fever. Nevertheless, even without fever, mild hypoalbuminemia should not be ignored, as it may indicate underlying health issues such as malnutrition, liver disease, or kidney disease.

If albumin levels are significantly decreased, immune function may be substantially impaired, leading to reduced resistance. Under these conditions, the body becomes more susceptible to invasion by external pathogens, increasing the risk of infection. Once an infection occurs, the body initiates an immune response, which may result in symptoms such as fever. Therefore, severe hypoalbuminemia may be accompanied by fever.

When albumin levels are low, attention should be paid to dietary adjustments, including increasing protein intake from sources such as lean meat, fish, and eggs. At the same time, ensuring adequate sleep can support the body's recovery.
