Introduction
In general, patients with gastrointestinal problems are advised not to drink cola or Sprite, as these may cause discomfort. Cola and Sprite are carbonated beverages containing large amounts of acidic substances, high sugar, caffeine, and other ingredients that may stimulate increased gastric acid secretion, intensify the irritation of gastric acid on the gastric mucosa, and thereby worsen gastric lesions and symptoms.

In general, patients with poor stomach health are advised not to drink cola or Sprite to avoid discomfort. The reasons are as follows:

Cola and Sprite are carbonated beverages containing large amounts of acidic substances, high sugar, caffeine, and other ingredients, which may stimulate increased gastric acid secretion. This heightened acidity can intensify irritation to the gastric mucosa, thereby worsening existing stomach conditions and symptoms. If poor stomach health is caused by gastric ulcers, where the gastric mucosa is already damaged, patients should avoid drinking cola and Sprite. Consuming these drinks may further irritate the injured areas and potentially exacerbate the condition.

In rare cases, if temporary stomach discomfort is due to factors such as excessive fatigue or high mental stress, patients may consume small amounts of cola or Sprite. This is because these beverages contain certain phosphates, which can promote food digestion and absorption, offering some help in improving indigestion or loss of appetite.

In daily life, patients should maintain healthy eating habits, avoid spicy and irritating foods, and primarily consume light, easily digestible meals to support and protect stomach health.
