Introduction
In general, a high antibody level may be beneficial. During the course of an infection, a high antibody level is often a positive sign, as it indicates that the immune system is effectively fighting off the pathogen and helping the body recover. For example, a positive result for hepatitis B surface antibody signifies protective immunity, meaning the body is immune to the hepatitis B virus and protected from infection.

In general, whether a high antibody level is good or bad depends on the specific underlying cause in the patient. If the patient has an infectious disease, a high antibody level is beneficial; however, if the patient has an autoimmune disease, a high antibody level is harmful.

If the patient has an infectious disease, such as when hepatitis B surface antibody is positive, this indicates protective immunity against the virus, helping prevent hepatitis B infection. During an infection, a high antibody level is usually favorable, as it signifies that the immune system is effectively fighting the pathogen and aiding recovery.

Conversely, in patients with autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus or rheumatoid arthritis, excessive antibody production may trigger immune cells to attack the body's own tissues, disrupting immune balance. This can lead to various symptoms including fatigue, fever, and joint pain.

Eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, which are rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, folic acid, and other nutrients, helps maintain proper immune cell function.
