Can I play music when feeding a newborn?
Generally, it is not recommended to play music while newborns are feeding, for the following reasons:
Newborns need to concentrate during feeding in order to suckle and swallow effectively. Playing music during feeding may distract their attention, making it difficult for them to focus on eating, which could reduce sucking efficiency and even lead to adverse symptoms such as spitting up or choking. Therefore, playing music during feeding should be avoided to prevent interference and potential discomfort.
The environment should be kept relatively quiet during feeding, creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere, and minimizing external distractions so that the newborn can focus on feeding. Additionally, parents should closely monitor the newborn's feeding behavior and promptly adjust the feeding position to ensure the baby feeds comfortably and safely.
