Is high-risk HPV the same as AIDS?

High-risk HPV is a viral infection caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), primarily transmitted through sexual contact. High-risk HPV primarily affects skin and mucosal tissues, and long-term infection may lead to cervical cancer. HIV primarily attacks and destroys helper T lymphocytes, impairing cellular immune function and eventually leading to severe opportunistic infections and tumors.

Although high-risk HPV and AIDS are caused by different pathogens, there may be an indirect association between them. AIDS weakens the human immune system, making individuals more susceptible to high-risk HPV infection and less able to clear the virus once infected.
