Will acne marks last a lifetime?
Under normal circumstances, most acne marks do not last a lifetime.
Acne marks are formed after acne inflammation, resulting in vascular dilation or pigmentation. These marks typically fade gradually over time after the acne clears.
Superficial acne marks, such as red marks caused by vascular dilation, may resolve spontaneously within two weeks to three months. Pigmented acne marks, such as brownish-black or brown marks, may take longer to fade, but most will gradually diminish and disappear within six months to a year.
If acne causes deep skin damage, leading to the formation of acne scars (pitted scars), these depressions may remain permanently. Acne scars are凹陷 scars formed from damage to the dermis and usually cannot heal spontaneously. Additionally, individuals with a scarring predisposition are more prone to scarring, and their scars may fade slowly or even never fully disappear.
Therefore, during the recovery phase of acne marks, patients should maintain healthy lifestyle and dietary habits, such as consuming less high-sugar, high-fat, and high-salt foods, eating more fresh vegetables and fruits, and incorporating moderate amounts of heat-clearing and fire-resolving foods. Proper skincare is also essential, including washing the face with warm water regularly, maintaining skin hydration, and applying sun protection.
