Generally speaking, there is no such thing as a single method to determine pregnancy. Pregnancy refers to gestation. To determine whether one is pregnant, methods such as missed periods, early pregnancy symptoms, elevated basal body temperature, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) test strips, and blood hCG tests can be used. Details are as follows:

1. Missed Period: A missed period is one of the obvious signs of pregnancy. If your menstrual cycle has been regular but suddenly stops, especially if no contraception was used, pregnancy should be highly suspected.

2. Early Pregnancy Symptoms: In early pregnancy, women may experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, changes in appetite, breast tenderness, darkening of the areola, fatigue, drowsiness, and frequent urination. These symptoms typically appear around 6-8 weeks of pregnancy, but not all pregnant women will experience them, and the severity varies from person to person.

3. Elevated Basal Body Temperature: After ovulation, if fertilization is successful, a woman's basal body temperature will rise by 0.3-0.5℃ and remain elevated. This temperature increase usually persists throughout pregnancy until gradually returning to normal after delivery. Therefore, continuous monitoring of basal body temperature can provide a preliminary indication of pregnancy. However, elevated body temperature is not a specific symptom of pregnancy and may also be influenced by other factors.

4. Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Test Strips: The level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine can be tested to preliminarily determine pregnancy. When self-testing, ensure that the instructions are followed accurately, and results should be read within the specified time. Home pregnancy tests are generally accurate but may be influenced by various factors such as the timing of testing and urine concentration. Therefore, self-test results are for reference only.

5. Blood Human Chorionic Gonadotropin Test: The blood hCG test measures the concentration of hCG in the blood and is one of the commonly used methods in hospitals to confirm pregnancy. If the concentration is higher than the normal range, it may indicate pregnancy. The blood hCG test is highly accurate and can detect pregnancy at an earlier stage.

If you have any concerns or experience related symptoms, seek medical attention promptly and follow the doctor's guidance for further examination and treatment.
