Introduction
Under normal circumstances, wax gourd (winter melon) is considered incompatible with foods such as chili peppers, white radish, eggplant, crucian carp, and tofu. Wax gourd is cold in nature, while chili peppers are hot. According to traditional Chinese medicine, these two types of foods have opposing properties, and consuming them together may disrupt the body's yin-yang balance, potentially causing heat-related symptoms such as mouth ulcers and sore throat. Although the above-mentioned foods are considered incompatible with wax gourd, this does not absolutely mean they can never be consumed together.

Generally speaking, wax gourd (winter melon) is incompatible with chili peppers, white radish, eggplant, crucian carp, tofu, and other foods. The specific analysis is as follows:

1. Chili Peppers

Wax gourd is cold in nature, while chili peppers are hot. According to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), these two have completely opposite properties. Consuming them together may cause imbalance between Yin and Yang in the body, leading to heat-related symptoms such as mouth ulcers and sore throat.

2. White Radish

Both wax gourd and white radish have diuretic and heat-clearing effects. TCM theory suggests that consuming them together may be excessively cold and harmful to individuals with weak spleen and stomach function, especially those prone to cold hands and feet or digestive issues.

3. Eggplant

Wax gourd is cold in nature, and eggplant is also a cold-natured food. According to TCM theory, excessive consumption of both together may intensify internal coldness, potentially causing digestive discomfort such as diarrhea and abdominal pain in individuals with a cold constitution in the spleen and stomach.

4. Crucian Carp

Crucian carp is warm in nature with a sweet taste, while wax gourd is cold. Their properties and tastes counteract each other, so they are not recommended to be consumed together. Additionally, both have diuretic effects, and consuming them simultaneously may lead to excessive urination, which is detrimental to health.

5. Tofu

Tofu contains a high amount of protein, while wax gourd contains mineral components such as magnesium and potassium. Consuming them together may cause precipitation, affecting the body's absorption of nutrients.

Although the above-mentioned foods are considered incompatible with wax gourd, it is not absolutely forbidden to eat them together. In daily diets, individuals can appropriately combine these foods according to their own physical condition and health status, while paying attention to any bodily reactions.
