What are the methods for relaxing and massaging the head?
Generally speaking, head relaxation massage is an effective method to relieve tension, promote blood circulation, and improve sleep. Methods of head relaxation massage include the temporal massage method, forehead massage method, fingertip scalp massage method, posterior neck massage method, and ten-finger combing method. The details are as follows:
1. Temporal Massage Method
Gently press the temples with the index and middle fingers, rotate several circles clockwise, and then several circles counterclockwise. This helps relieve headaches, eye fatigue, and brings a sense of relaxation and comfort.
2. Forehead Massage Method
Gently press the center of the forehead with the index and middle fingers, then push outward toward the temples, and from bottom to top toward the hairline. This can promote blood circulation, relieve tension, and make one feel mentally refreshed.
3. Fingertip Scalp Massage Method
Using the fingertips, gently massage the scalp. Start from the forehead and massage backward along the hairline, then from the crown of the head, massage outward along the hairline. This type of massage can promote scalp blood circulation, reduce head tension, and help improve sleep quality.
4. Posterior Neck Massage Method
Rub and knead the back of the neck with the fingers or palm, gradually increasing pressure from top to bottom. This can relieve neck pain, relax neck muscles, and thus improve sleep quality.
5. Ten-Finger Combing Method
Curve both hands' fingers into a rake-like shape, comb backward from the forehead hairline, passing through acupoints such as Shenting (GV24) and Baihui (GV20), until reaching the occipital bone, then press downward to the cervical vertebrae. Separate both hands to go around the sides of the neck to the Adam's apple, massaging the Lianquan (CV23) and Renying (ST9) acupoints respectively. Smoothly rub the area around the ears with the palms. Repeat this process 50 times. This method can stimulate head acupoints, promote cerebral blood circulation, relieve fatigue, and invigorate the spirit.
When performing head massage, attention should be paid to choosing appropriate pressure and frequency, avoiding excessive stimulation or discomfort. If there are severe symptoms such as headaches or dizziness, timely medical consultation and treatment according to medical advice are necessary.
