Introduction
When coughing, you may consider techniques such as pushing the Tian Tu point (CV 22), kneading the Shan Zhong point (CV 4), massaging the Fei Shu point (BL 13), back friction, and lung-clearing massage. These methods help relieve chest tightness, promote the flow of Qi, regulate lung function, improve blood circulation, and assist in clearing heat from the lungs, thereby helping to alleviate coughing. The above procedures should be performed under the guidance of a physician to ensure safety.

Generally, coughing can be treated with massage therapies such as pushing the Tian Tu point, kneading the Tan Zhong point, pressing and kneading the Fei Shu points, rubbing the back, or performing Lung Meridian-clearing massage techniques. If discomfort persists, prompt medical attention is advised. Detailed explanations are as follows:

1. Pushing the Tian Tu Point

The Tian Tu point is located on the neck, in the depression above the manubrium of the sternum. During massage, the local area can be gently pressed with the thumb and then rotated clockwise. This technique can help relieve chest tightness and ease coughing.

2. Kneading the Tan Zhong Point

The Tan Zhong point lies on the midline of the chest. During massage, the heel of the palm or thumb can be used to gently knead the area, gradually increasing pressure. This helps to promote smooth flow of Qi, thereby relieving cough and alleviating shortness of breath.

3. Pressing and Kneading the Fei Shu Points

The Fei Shu points are located below the spinous processes of the third thoracic vertebrae on the back. Gently massaging both Fei Shu points daily with the thumb or middle finger can regulate lung Qi and assist in reducing the severity of coughing.

4. Rubbing the Back

One can choose to rub the entire back or the central area of the back with the palm daily, repeating the motion. This can enhance systemic blood circulation and alleviate symptoms of coughing.

5. Lung Meridian-Clearing Massage

The Lung Meridian is located on the inner side of the forearm in children. During massage, the practitioner can push in a straight line at a steady pace from the base of the ring finger toward the base of the index finger. Massaging this meridian can help clear heat from the lungs, resolve phlegm, and relieve coughing.

It should be noted that the above methods should be performed under the guidance of a physician to avoid self-treatment that may cause discomfort. Additionally, attention should be paid to the frequency and intensity of the massage to prevent adverse effects.
