Introduction
Watermelon is rich in water and vitamin C, while river crabs contain abundant protein and trace elements. Combining the two can provide a relatively comprehensive range of nutrients. The vitamin C in watermelon helps promote iron absorption, and river crabs have a relatively high iron content. Therefore, in theory, consuming them together is beneficial for most healthy individuals.

For healthy individuals, watermelon and hairy crabs can generally be consumed together, but moderation is advised. However, for those with special body constitutions, they generally should not be eaten together.

Watermelon is rich in water and vitamin C, while hairy crabs provide abundant protein and trace elements. Combining the two can supply relatively comprehensive nutrients. The vitamin C in watermelon helps promote iron absorption, and since hairy crabs are high in iron content, from a theoretical perspective, consuming them together is beneficial. For most healthy individuals, moderate consumption of both watermelon and hairy crab does not cause adverse reactions. As long as the ingredients are fresh and properly cooked, eating them together is safe.

However, both watermelon and hairy crab are considered cold-natured foods. Consuming them together may easily irritate the digestive system, leading to weakened spleen and stomach function, reduced secretion of intestinal digestive fluids, abnormal intestinal motility, and possibly causing discomfort such as bloating, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Additionally, consuming these two foods together may reduce nutrient absorption rates and diminish the overall nutritional value of the meal. Pregnant women, children, the elderly, and others may need to avoid eating these two foods simultaneously.

If you are concerned about potential adverse effects from consuming them together, you may choose to eat them separately with a time interval, such as 2–3 hours. In daily diets, it is recommended to maintain a balanced dietary structure and diversify food intake to help sustain good health.
