Introduction
In general, strawberry hemangiomas, which are common benign vascular tumors in infants and young children, may or may not regress depending on the severity of the condition, tumor location, and growth rate. Close observation of changes in the hemangioma is necessary in daily care, including monitoring and recording changes in color, size, and thickness. Avoid friction or trauma to the lesion, and maintain local skin cleanliness and dryness.

Strawberry hemangiomas, a common benign vascular tumor in infants and young children, may or may not regress depending on the severity of the condition, location of the lesion, and growth rate. The specific analysis is as follows:

In mild cases where the hemangioma grows slowly and is located in non-critical areas, proliferation may gradually stop within several months after birth, followed by an involution phase. The color will fade from bright red or dark red, the thickness of the lesion will decrease, and its size will shrink over time. Eventually, it may completely regress, leaving only slight pigmentation or no trace at all, with the skin returning to normal—usually requiring no aggressive intervention.

Large lesions that grow rapidly or are located in critical areas such as the eyelids, mouth, nose, or genital region have a lower chance of spontaneous regression. These hemangiomas may continue to enlarge, compress surrounding tissues and organs, impair function or affect appearance, and carry risks of ulceration, bleeding, or infection. Timely medical evaluation and appropriate interventions are necessary in such cases.

Routine monitoring of changes in the hemangioma—including color, size, and thickness—is essential. Avoid friction or trauma to the lesion, and keep the local skin clean and dry. If rapid enlargement, unusual darkening of color, ulceration, or bleeding occurs, seek immediate medical attention. Do not attempt self-treatment, as this may delay proper management.
