Introduction
Hemorrhoids after childbirth can be relieved by adjusting diet, warm water sitz baths, using topical medications, improving bowel habits, and engaging in moderate gentle exercise. Most postpartum hemorrhoid cases gradually improve as the body recovers. If symptoms such as prolapsed hemorrhoids that cannot be pushed back, persistent rectal bleeding, or severe pain occur, prompt medical attention is recommended. Eat more foods rich in dietary fiber.

After childbirth, hemorrhoids can be relieved through adjusting diet, warm water sitz baths, topical medications, improving bowel habits, and engaging in moderate gentle exercise. Most postpartum hemorrhoid cases gradually improve as the body recovers. However, if symptoms such as prolapsed hemorrhoids that cannot be pushed back, persistent rectal bleeding, or severe pain occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.

1. Adjust diet: Eat more fiber-rich foods such as celery, spinach, apples, and oats, and increase daily water intake to promote intestinal motility and prevent constipation, which can worsen hemorrhoidal congestion and pain.

2. Warm water sitz bath: Sit in warm water at 38–40°C for 15–20 minutes daily to improve blood circulation around the anus, reduce swelling and pain caused by hemorrhoids. After the bath, gently dry the anal area with a soft towel.

3. Use topical medications: Under medical guidance, apply hemorrhoid creams or suppositories safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, such as compound alginates suppositories, to relieve itching and pain. Avoid self-medicating to prevent potential effects on breastfeeding.

4. Improve bowel habits: Develop a routine for regular bowel movements. Avoid prolonged straining or squatting during defecation, and keep each session within 5 minutes. Using a toilet seat cushion may help reduce pressure on the anal area and minimize friction-related injury to hemorrhoids.

5. Engage in moderate gentle exercise: After initial postpartum recovery, perform light activities such as walking or Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, enhance blood circulation around the anus, and aid in hemorrhoid resolution. Avoid strenuous physical activity.

After delivery, choose soft, breathable cotton underwear, change and wash it frequently to keep the anal area dry. Avoid prolonged sitting or lying down; get up and move regularly. After bowel movements, clean the anal area with warm water instead of using toilet paper to reduce irritation.
