Introduction
Dry eyes and blurred vision may be caused by eye strain, dry environments, infrequent blinking, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, etc. These symptoms can be improved through eye rest, environmental adjustments, habit modifications, and medication. If symptoms persist or worsen, or are accompanied by photophobia and increased secretions, prompt medical attention is necessary. Prolonged near-work or screen viewing can contribute to these issues.

Dry and blurry eyes may result from eye strain, dry environments, infrequent blinking, dry eye syndrome, conjunctivitis, and other causes. Symptoms can be improved through eye rest, environmental adjustments, habit modifications, and medication. If symptoms persist or worsen, or are accompanied by photophobia and increased eye discharge, prompt medical attention is necessary.

1. Eye strain: Prolonged close-up work or screen use causes eye muscle tension and rapid tear evaporation, leading to dryness and blurred vision. It is recommended to look into the distance for 5 minutes every 30 minutes, limit daily screen time, and avoid staying up late.

2. Dry environment: Air-conditioned rooms, heated spaces, or arid climates accelerate tear evaporation, leaving eyes insufficiently moisturized. Using a humidifier, drinking plenty of warm water, and avoiding prolonged exposure to dry environments are advised.

3. Infrequent blinking: Blinking decreases during focused tasks or screen viewing, preventing the tear film from adequately moistening the eye surface. Consciously increasing blink frequency and closing the eyes for 3–5 minutes each hour can help relieve dryness.

4. Dry eye syndrome: Insufficient tear production or an unstable tear film leads to chronic eye dryness, causing persistent dryness and blurred vision. Patients may use sodium hyaluronate eye drops, polyethylene glycol eye drops, or vitamin B12 eye drops under medical guidance to alleviate discomfort.

5. Conjunctivitis: Inflammation caused by bacterial or viral infection leads to conjunctival redness and impaired tear function, resulting in dryness and blurred vision. Under medical supervision, medications such as levofloxacin eye drops, acyclovir eye drops, or erythromycin eye ointment may be used to improve symptoms.

Maintain good eye hygiene in daily life—avoid rubbing eyes with dirty hands, consume more fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A and C, maintain regular sleep patterns to allow adequate eye rest, and wear protective eyewear in bright sunlight to reduce irritation.
