Introduction
Cracked and chapped skin on the back of the hand can generally be improved by applying moisturizing creams, using vitamin E lotion, massaging after soaking in warm water, and adjusting environmental humidity. Choose hand creams containing glycerin or urea, and apply them multiple times daily to form a protective barrier that locks in moisture and relieves dryness and tightness. Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, and its lotion formulation is easily absorbed; applying it generously at night helps soften the stratum corneum and promotes healing of cracks.

Cracked and chapped back of the hands can generally be improved through applying moisturizing creams, using vitamin E lotion, applying thick layers of petroleum jelly, massaging after soaking in warm water, and adjusting environmental humidity. Specific methods are as follows:

1. Apply moisturizer: Choose hand creams containing glycerin or urea, and apply multiple times daily to form a protective film that locks in moisture and relieves dryness and tightness.

2. Use vitamin E lotion: Vitamin E has antioxidant properties, and its lotion formulation is easily absorbed. Applying a thick layer at night helps soften the stratum corneum and promotes healing of cracks.

3. Apply thick layers of petroleum jelly: Petroleum jelly has strong occlusive properties. Apply a generous amount to cracked areas before bedtime and wear disposable gloves overnight. Skin softness and hydration will significantly improve by morning.

4. Soak in warm water followed by massage: Soak the back of the hands in 40°C warm water for 5 minutes to soften the skin. Then gently massage in circular motions with fingertips to enhance blood circulation and improve absorption of skincare products.

5. Adjust environmental humidity: During dry seasons, use a humidifier to maintain indoor humidity between 40% and 60% to reduce skin moisture loss and prevent worsening of chapping at the root cause.

Avoid frequent contact with irritants such as detergents and disinfectants. Wear rubber gloves when doing household chores. If cracks bleed or cause persistent pain, seek medical attention promptly to rule out complications such as fungal infections.
