Fusidic acid ointment is an anti-infective agent—specifically, an antibacterial topical preparation—effective against a broad spectrum of bacterial skin infections.

For example, it can be used to treat acne and folliculitis on the face, as well as furuncles (boils). It is also suitable for bacterial infections resulting from minor skin injuries on the limbs and other body areas.

This ointment has a wide range of clinical applications. However, it may not be available in some hospitals or pharmacies. In such cases, alternative topical antibacterial agents—such as erythromycin ointment or mupirocin ointment (e.g., Bactroban®)—may be used instead.
