Introduction
Garlic capsules primarily contain allicin, an active compound extracted from the garlic plant. Their main indication is for pathogenic microorganisms, exerting a bactericidal effect. The primary active ingredient in garlic capsules is garlic, which exhibits significant antimicrobial activity and can be used as both an antifungal and antibacterial agent. Garlic demonstrates inhibitory and bactericidal effects against a wide range of pathogens, including various cocci, Bordetella pertussis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Escherichia coli, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

In daily life, many people have never heard of allicin capsules and are unfamiliar with their therapeutic effects. So, what are the benefits and uses of allicin capsules?

Therapeutic Effects of Allicin Capsules

Allicin capsules are primarily derived from garlic (Allium sativum) and contain allicin—the main bioactive compound responsible for garlic’s antimicrobial properties. They are mainly indicated for infections caused by pathogenic microorganisms and exhibit broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. As a natural antimicrobial and antifungal agent, allicin effectively inhibits or kills various pathogenic bacteria, including cocci, Bordetella pertussis (causing whooping cough), Corynebacterium diphtheriae (causing diphtheria), Candida albicans, and pathogens responsible for acute and chronic pneumonia, bacillary dysentery, typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, Escherichia coli infections, and tuberculosis. Additionally, allicin demonstrates inhibitory and killing effects against certain fungi, as well as protozoan parasites such as Entamoeba histolytica and Trichomonas vaginalis, and some helminth larvae.

Clinically, allicin capsules are used to treat both bacterial and fungal infections—including pulmonary and gastrointestinal fungal infections, chronic bacillary dysentery, acute and chronic enteritis, and whooping cough. However, caution is advised during use: allicin can irritate the gastric mucosa and is susceptible to degradation by gastric acid. Therefore, the capsules must be swallowed whole—never chewed or crushed. Allicin capsules function as an antimicrobial agent with proven inhibitory and bactericidal activity against both bacteria and fungi.

Patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to garlic or its components must avoid taking this medication. Some individuals may experience gastric irritation and impaired digestive function as adverse effects. To minimize gastrointestinal discomfort, allicin capsules should always be taken intact—never chewed. We hope this information has been helpful to you!
