Introduction
The prenatal music audio source should be placed 1–1.5 meters away from the pregnant woman. It is important to note that using headphones or placing the music device directly against the pregnant woman’s abdomen are both improper methods for prenatal music stimulation. The most appropriate method is to play the music externally (i.e., through speakers). Before initiating prenatal music therapy, it is essential to select an appropriate device for playing the prenatal music.

Many women enjoy listening to prenatal music during pregnancy—it helps relax their mood and may promote fetal activity.

How Should Prenatal Music Be Played for the Baby?

The audio source for prenatal music should be placed 1–1.5 meters away from the pregnant woman. Importantly, using headphones or placing the audio device directly against the maternal abdomen are both inappropriate methods for prenatal music exposure. The recommended approach is external playback. Before beginning music-based prenatal stimulation, select an appropriate playback device—preferably a speaker system or another safe, low-risk audio device. Choose suitable musical pieces, familiarize yourself with their content, and understand their artistic meaning and social context. Prior to listening, the pregnant woman should relax her muscles, maintain a calm and positive mood, and mentally invite the baby to “join” in the musical experience.

Generally, prenatal music can begin around the fourth month of pregnancy. Position the audio source approximately one meter from the mother’s body. If using headphones, they may be placed gently on the abdomen—but this method is less preferred than external playback. Play music at consistent times each day, keeping volume moderate and duration reasonable to avoid overstimulation and ensure the fetus has adequate rest.

During pregnancy, it is essential to maintain healthy lifestyle habits—including sufficient sleep and increased intake of high-quality, protein-rich foods. We hope this information is helpful to you!
