Diet the Day Before Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
Disease description:
I’m concerned about developing colorectal cancer and would like to undergo a colonoscopy. What dietary precautions should I take the day before the procedure?
Avoid spicy and irritating foods. Do not consume alcoholic beverages. Stimulating drinks—such as coffee and strong tea—should also be avoided. Refrain from eating for at least 8 hours before bedtime to ensure adequate sleep. Relax your body, regulate your mood, and approach the examination with a positive attitude, which will further promote relaxation during the procedure. Communicate thoroughly with your physician in advance regarding the examination process to facilitate better cooperation.
