Can jaundice recur after it has subsided?
Disease description:
My baby previously had jaundice, which has since resolved. I would like to ask: After jaundice resolves, can it recur?
Physiological jaundice typically resolves gradually and usually disappears within approximately two weeks. In contrast, pathological jaundice often rebounds—bilirubin levels decrease initially but then rise again. Pathological jaundice results from abnormal bilirubin metabolism and represents an underlying pathological condition requiring prompt and active treatment. Delayed or inadequate treatment of pathological jaundice can lead to severe consequences.
