Can Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) Diagnose Coronary Artery Disease?
Disease description:
I have a family history of coronary heart disease and have recently experienced angina symptoms. I visited the hospital, and the CT report indicates that further testing is needed. Could you please clarify: Can coronary CT angiography (CCTA) definitively diagnose coronary heart disease?
Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) can definitively diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD). CCTA—also referred to as coronary computed tomographic angiography—enables assessment of the degree of coronary artery stenosis. Typically, a stenosis exceeding 75% is considered diagnostic of CAD. CCTA is widely used in clinical practice and has a solid scientific basis for diagnosing CAD. If a patient suspects a misdiagnosis, an electrocardiogram (ECG) may also be performed; combined evaluation using both ECG and CCTA enhances diagnostic accuracy.
