Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell disorder and is classified as a neoplastic disease, making it challenging to treat. In mild cases, potent immunosuppressive agents may be used; earlier treatment generally leads to better prognosis. In severe cases or when MDS progresses to acute leukemia, supportive therapies—including iron supplements, folic acid, and vitamin supplementation—may be administered to alleviate anemia.
