How to Enhance Physical Exercise in Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Disease description:
Last month, I underwent a physical examination at the hospital and was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). Could you please advise how to appropriately incorporate exercise into my routine?
Patients with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) may appropriately engage in physical exercise to improve overall physical fitness. Aerobic activities—such as swimming or brisk walking—are generally recommended. However, exercise duration should be moderate; excessive or prolonged exertion may lead to fatigue and increase susceptibility to infections, thereby impairing disease recovery. Gentle exercises like Tai Chi or yoga are also suitable options. Additionally, patients should adopt a nutrient-rich diet, emphasizing foods high in vitamins, which supports disease recovery.
