Is it normal to have enlarged, non-tender, firm cervical lymph nodes?

Disease description:

Recently, I’ve experienced a rather unusual phenomenon: the lymph nodes in my neck have swollen for no apparent reason. Even more puzzling is that pressing on them causes no pain, and I don’t experience any itching otherwise. Could you please tell me whether it’s normal for cervical lymph nodes to be enlarged, non-tender, and firm in consistency?

Dr. Li Ping
Enlarged cervical lymph nodes without tenderness may result from prior chronic inflammation. There is no need for excessive concern; regular dynamic observation is sufficient. Maintain a scientifically structured and regular lifestyle: avoid raw, cold, spicy, or otherwise irritating foods; ensure adequate sleep; and consume ample protein- and vitamin-rich foods. Continue to monitor the size of the enlarged lymph nodes dynamically—if they do not increase further, this is generally not a cause for concern.
