How is “water monkey” treated?
Disease description:
I’ve developed numerous small skin growths on my body over the past few days for no apparent reason. After visiting the hospital for an examination, the doctor diagnosed them as molluscum contagiosum. I’d like to know how molluscum contagiosum is treated.
Water warts, also known as molluscum contagiosum, are a contagious skin disease caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus. Under a physician’s guidance, topical ointments—such as imiquimod cream or cidofovir cream—may be applied to suppress and eradicate the virus and promote lesion healing. Additionally, physical methods—including electrocautery, curettage, and cryotherapy—can be used to remove the lesions.
